SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael Pettigrew of Chicago, who passed away on March 1, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Michael Pettigrew was born on May 21, 1963 to the late Clarence and Almeda Pettigrew; he accepted Christ at an early age at the Faith Community of Saint Sabina, where he later served as an altar boy for several years; and

WHEREAS, He attended St. Sabina Elementary School and Calumet High School; and

WHEREAS, Michael Pettigrew worked for St. Sabina for 26 years; he did side jobs, painting, landscaping, removing snow, and plumbing; he did projects around his home, including installing an in-wall aquarium; and

WHEREAS, At an early age, Michael met and formed a special relationship with Kenya Morgan; their friendship led to marriage in February of 1990 and continued even after their legal union ended; to this union two beautiful children were born; and

WHEREAS, Michael Pettigrew is survived by his children, Cesydiah and Miguel; his mother, Almeda Pettigrew-Bell; his stepfather, Otis Bell; his sisters, Paulette Pettigrew, Sheila Carthon, Rosemary (Isacc) Achinvu, Carolyne (Jerome) Adams, and Debbie (Andre) Johnson; his brother, Tyrone (Lisa) Pettigrew; his stepbrothers; his stepsisters; his nieces, Jaqueisha and Maliaka; his nephews, Michael and Quincy; his great nieces, Bryshawna and Janiah; and a host of aunts, cousins, friends, and the St. Sabina family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael Pettigrew; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Pettigrew as a symbol of our sympathy.
