| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Dorothy DiPaolo of Chicago, owner of |
| 4 |
| Mario's Italian Lemonade Stand, who passed away on January 28, |
| 5 |
| 2007; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy DiPaolo was born and raised on the North |
| 7 |
| Side of Chicago; she was an
accomplished ice skater who |
| 8 |
| traveled with the Ice Capades for two years; in 1951, she and |
| 9 |
| her husband Mario Sr. opened Mario's General Store; in 1958, |
| 10 |
| she and Mario Sr. co-founded the famous "Mario's Italian
|
| 11 |
| Lemonade Stand" which has become an unofficial Chicago |
| 12 |
| institution, slaking summer thirsts for nearly half a century; |
| 13 |
| and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy DiPaolo was known as a direct, |
| 15 |
| plain-spoken businesswoman who could be seen everyday at the |
| 16 |
| front counter of Mario's without exception; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy DiPaolo was preceded in death by her |
| 18 |
| husband, Mario DiPaolo Sr.; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy DiPaolo will be remembered by all who knew |
| 20 |
| and loved her, especially her son, Mario (Maria) DiPaolo Jr.; |
| 21 |
| her daughter, Donna (the Honorable Raymond) Jagielski; and her |
