SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Katherine Rose Merkel of Oswego, who 
4
passed away on February 11, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Katherine Rose Merkel was born on April 22, 1992 
6
in Aurora; she was beloved daughter of John and Brenda 
7
(Carlson) Merkel, who waited through four boys for their 
8
beloved Princess to come into their lives; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Kate attended Oswego High School, where she was 
10
involved in cheerleading, youth tackle football, and managed 
11
the junior high wrestling team; she was a member of St. Anne's 
12
Catholic Church in Oswego; and

 

13
    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandmother, 
14
JoAnn Merkel; her grandfather, Robert Carlson; and her uncle, 
15
Robert "Timmy" Carlson; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Katherine Rose Merkel is survived by her parents, 
17
John (Brenda) Merkel; her brothers, Jason (Jodi) Merkel, Rob 
18
Merkel (Kelly Kras), Daniel Merkel and Johnnie Merkel (Lisa 
19
Hallman); her grandmother, Carolyn Carlson; her grandfather, 
20
Lormor
Merkel; her  nieces, Sarah and Megan Merkel; her aunts 
21
and uncles, Gayle (Toni), Mary (Al), Dan (Sue), Beth, Marti

(Billy), Jackie (Bob), Jean (Everett), Rick (Carol), and David

(Gayle); and numerous cousins and many good friends; therefore,

be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
her family and friends, the passing of Katherine Rose Merkel; 
7
and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Katherine Rose Merkel as a symbol of 
10
our sympathy.
