SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Bernard Kouri of East Peoria, who passed 
4
away on June 3, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Bernard Kouri was born on August 10, 1933, in 
6
Peoria; his parents were Thomas Fadoul and Marianna Mrad Kouri; 
7
and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Bernard Kouri was co-owner of Gene's Dairy Dream 
9
for many years, then was co-owner of the Chateau on the Lake 
10
until his  retirement in 2001; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Bernard Kouri was a lifetime member of the Itoo 
12
Club and a member of the board of Broadway Theatre League; he 
13
was active in Peoria Players, Corn Stock Theatre, the 
14
Renaissance House, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure; he 
15
was also involved in many other charities; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Bernard Kouri was preceded in death by his 
17
parents; his sisters, Elizabeth Couri and Gladys Tony; and his 
18
niece, Kathy Anthony; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Bernard Kouri was survived by his sisters, 
20
Bernadine Anthony, Jeanette (Thomas) Couri, and Margaret

LaHood; his brothers, Louis (Delores), Edward (Shirley), and 
2
Gene (Cathy); and his 42 loving nieces and nephews; therefore, 
3
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
his family and friends, the passing of Bernard Kouri; and be it 
7
further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Bernard Kouri as an expression of 
10
our sympathy.
