SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Margaret McCormick of Alton, who passed away on June 20, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Margaret McCormick was born August 30, 1922, in Barr to Henry Arthur and Mary Floyd (Saylor) Shinpaugh; she married William Harold McCormick on March 9, 1946, in Palmyra; and

WHEREAS, Margaret McCormick and her husband shared 47 years together before his passing on May 25, 1993; and

WHEREAS, She graduated in 1940 from Alton High School and worked at Millers Mutual in Alton for several years; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, Margaret McCormick was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Betty Turpin; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Turpin; and her brothers, Harold, Woodrow "Woody", and Glen Shinpaugh; and

WHEREAS, Margaret McCormick is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sherri McCormick; her son-in-law and his wife, Marc and Marsha Turpin; her grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Jennifer McCormick, Jennifer McCormick, Amy and J.D. Olson, and Chris and Jennifer Turpin; and her eight great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Margaret McCormick; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Margaret McCormick as a symbol of our sympathy.
