| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Fred Ufert of Wood River, who passed away |
4 |
| on July 18, 2007; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was born on October 22, 1925 in Alton; |
6 |
| his parents were Fred E. W. and Helen Claire (Elfgen) Ufert; he |
7 |
| married the former Josephine Compagno on February 7, 1948 at |
8 |
| St. Mary's Church in Alton; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Fred Ufert served 4 years with the U.S. Navy |
10 |
| during the Second World War; he was a maintenance supervisor |
11 |
| for Illinois Power for 37 years until his retirement in 1988; |
12 |
| and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was a lifetime member of Alton VFW Post |
14 |
| 1308 and the Disabled American Veterans; he was a member of the |
15 |
| Wood River Moose and Alton American legion; he was a member and |
16 |
| past president of the Alton Eagles; and he played softball with |
17 |
| the Illinois Power and Alton Eagle teams and bowled with the |
18 |
| Alton Eagles league; he enjoyed fishing with his grandson, |
19 |
| playing card games with his family, and hunting; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was preceded in death by his parents |
21 |
| and his brothers, Harold and Thomas Ufert; and
