| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Mildred Arends of Peoria, who passed away |
| 4 |
| on July 28, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was born on April 12, 1920 in |
| 6 |
| Peoria; she was the daughter of Chester and Elsie Bauer Arends; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mildred Arends worked as a teacher at Franklin |
| 9 |
| School, but was best known as the Peoria City Treasurer for 34 |
| 10 |
| years; she also worked at Space Age Travel Agency and was |
| 11 |
| part-owner of Global Tours; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was a member of the Peoria |
| 13 |
| Historical Society, Peoria County Republican Women, Peoria |
| 14 |
| Symphony Guild, and Metropolitan Opera Guild; she was also |
| 15 |
| involved with Lakeview Museum and sat on the board of |
| 16 |
| Neighborhood House; and she was a member of Second Church of |
| 17 |
| Christ Scientist; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was preceded in death by her |
| 19 |
| parents; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mildred Arends is survived by her sister, Shirley |
