| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of William Thompson of North Chicago, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on August 8, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, William Thompson was born on February 17, 1936 in |
| 6 |
| Charleston, Missouri; his parents were Ozzie and Leather |
| 7 |
| Thompson; he gave his life to Christ at an early age; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, William Thompson moved to North Chicago as a |
| 9 |
| child; he graduated from North Chicago Community High School in |
| 10 |
| 1955, attending college at a later time; he retired from the |
| 11 |
| Veterans Affairs Medical Center in North Chicago after 35 years |
| 12 |
| of service; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, William Thompson was dedicated to the great game |
| 14 |
| of baseball; he played minor league baseball with the Cleveland |
| 15 |
| Indians; he served his country in the United States Army from |
| 16 |
| 1959 to 1961; he was a coach for the North Chicago Flames youth |
| 17 |
| football team; he was a member of the Blue Sox Baseball Club, |
| 18 |
| the Old Timer, Outcast, and the All Star Club; and he was |
| 19 |
| placed in the baseball hall of fame at North Chicago Community |
| 20 |
| High School; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, William Thompson was preceded in death by his |
|

| parents, Ozzie and Leather; his son, William Thompson, Jr.; his |
| 2 |
| brothers, Johnny, Cleo, Tommie, Leather "Moe Toe", Robert |

| "Bob", and Emmitt; his sisters, Hattie Mallory, Alamtina Sims, |
| 4 |
| and Josephine Thompson; and his sisters-in-law, Cleo, Nealie, |
| 5 |
| and Mary Thompson; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, William Thompson is survived by his wife, Mae; his |
| 7 |
| daughter, Anita Thompson; his granddaughter, Shardonnay |
| 8 |
| Thompson; his brother, Eugene (Anita) Thompson; his former |
| 9 |
| wife, Mary Thompson; his 4 stepsons; his 2 stepdaughters; his |
| 10 |
| 13 grandchildren; his 2 great-grandchildren; his very special |
| 11 |
| niece, Elizabeth "Liz" Thompson; and a host of nephews, nieces, |
| 12 |
| cousins, and dear friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
| 14 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 15 |
| his family and friends, the passing of William Thompson; and be |
| 16 |
| it further
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 |
| presented to the family of William Thompson as an expression of |
| 19 |
| our sympathy.
