SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, David Miller has served the community and 
3
residents of Palatine Township in many different ways and in 
4
many elected positions; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, David Miller was also elected to the position of 
6
Palatine Township School Trustee from 1981 to 1997 and served 
7
as Board President from 1983 to 1997; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, David Miller currently serves the community of 
9
Palatine Township as an elected official of the township; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, David Miller was elected and served as Collector 
11
of Palatine Township from 1985 to 1989; he served as President 
12
of the Collector's Division of Township Officials of Cook 
13
County from 1987 to 1988; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, David Miller was first elected Trustee of Palatine 
15
Township in 1989; he served as President of the Trustee's 
16
Division of Township Officials of Cook County from 1991 to 
17
1992; and
 
18
    WHEREAS, The Township Officials of Illinois, which 
19
represents all 1,433 Townships in the State
of Illinois, 
20
recognized David Miller as Trustee of the Year; and

    WHEREAS, The residents of Palatine Township, in their 
2
infinite wisdom, have re-elected David Miller as a Township 
3
Trustee for 5 consecutive elections; and
 
4
    WHEREAS, One of the main responsibilities of township 
5
government is to provide for those in need; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, As Township Trustee, David Miller has chaired the 
7
Senior Transportation Committee, the Northeast Task Group, and 
8
the Human Needs Committee; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, David Miller has chaired the Township Human Needs 
10
Committee since 2001; and
 
11
    WHEREAS, David Miller, as Chairman of the Township Human 
12
Needs Committee, has epitomized the writings of Thomas 
13
Jefferson who said, "The care of human life and happiness, and 
14
not their destruction, is the first and only object of good 
15
government"; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, The Palatine Township Human Needs Committee has 
17
helped to allocate hundreds of thousands of dollars to those in 
18
need during David Miller's terms as Chairman; and
 

19
    WHEREAS, The entire community of Palatine Township has

benefited from the countless hours of community service 
2
performed by David Miller, and is the better for having David 
3
Miller as one of its most valuable residents; therefore, be it

 
4
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to express our 
6
sincere thanks and gratitude to David Miller for his many years 
7
as an elected official of Palatine Township, and for making 
8
Palatine Township a better place to live, work, and play and 
9
further wishes David Miller success, joy, and happiness in any 
10
and all future endeavors; and be it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to David Miller as a symbol of our esteem and 
13
respect.
