SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Frank Lewis of Peoria, who passed away on 
4
September 19, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was born on October 17, 1942 in 
6
Peoria; he was the son of Charles K. and Laura (Jarvis) Lewis; 
7
he married Paula J. Navaressi on October 19, 1963 in Peoria; 
8
and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was the owner and operator of Lewis 
10
Optical in Peoria; he was also employed at Green View Nursery 
11
Tree Farm in Peoria; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was a member of the Peoria Optimists; 
13
he was a commissioner on the Peoria Historic Commission; he was 
14
a  member of the Renaissance Park Commission; he was a board 
15
member of the Central Illinois Landmarks Foundation; he was the 
16
founder and a past president of the Olde Towne Historic 
17
Residence Association; he believed in the City of Peoria and 
18
worked tirelessly on its behalf; in honor of his dedication to 
19
the community, the Frank D. Lewis Park was unveiled at the 
20
corner of Wayne and Northeast Monroe Streets on July 12, 2007; 
21
and

    WHEREAS, Frank Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, 
2
Charles and Laura; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, Frank Lewis is survived by his wife, Paula; his 
4
daughter, Lisa A. Slane; his  granddaughter, Alexandra Slane; 
5
and his brother, Bill Lewis; therefore, be it

 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
7
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
8
his family and friends, the passing of Frank Lewis; and be it 
9
further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to the family of Frank Lewis as an expression of our 
12
sympathy.
