SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jack Shelton of Vienna, who passed away on October 15, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was born August 17, 1928, in Eldorado to John and Lora (Little) Shelton; he was married to Marylou Browning on December 31, 1953, in Benton; and

WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was a graduate of Grand Tower Grade School and Murphysboro High School; he was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, stationed in Tokyo, Japan; and

WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was a retired telegrapher for the Illinois Central Railroad; for many years he owned and operated Shelton TV Service in Vienna; he was also a licensed amateur radio operator, with the call sign WB9WJW; he enjoyed computer repair, electronics, and reading; and

WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was preceded in death by his grandson, Jack Edward Shelton II; his brother, Paul Shelton; and a sister, Daphne Wills; he was a longtime deacon and 40-year member of Vienna First Christian Church; recently he was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Paducah; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Jack Shelton will be deeply felt by his wife, Marylou; his children, Pat Stockdale, Cathy Drobysh, Jan Farmer, Joan Clayton, and Jack Edward Shelton; his sons-in-law, James Stockdale and David Clayton; his daughter-in-law, Toni Shelton; his grandchildren, John, Danny, and Will Stockdale, Melissa, Matthew, and Michael Drobysh, Andy, Natalie, and Julie Farmer, Jill, Amy, and Kelly Clayton, and Alex, Ben, Maggie, and Jake Shelton; and his brother, Herbert Shelton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Jack Shelton; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Shelton as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
