| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of William G. Schutz of Westmont, who passed |
4 |
| away on January 1, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schutz retired in 1993 after 29 years with the |
6 |
| William Wrigley Company as director of Corporate Technical |
7 |
| Liaison worldwide; he was a registered professional engineer |
8 |
| with a degree in mechanical engineering; he joined General |
9 |
| Electric Company as a machine engineer in 1958, Continental Can |
10 |
| Company in 1961 as design engineer, and American Can Company in |
11 |
| 1964 as project engineer; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, He was affiliated with fraternities Sigma Phi |
13 |
| Delta, Tau Beta Pi, Tau Sigma, and Pi Mu Epsilon;

| attended Diaconate studies at St. Raymond's Cathedral in Joliet |
15 |
| and was active in church and village affairs; he was a |
16 |
| candidate for village trustee in 1973 for the then Civic |
17 |
| Association of Westmont party; he served as president for the |
18 |
| Holy Trinity Catholic School Board Parish, volunteered several |
19 |
| years as CCD teacher, served on the RCIA committee at Holy |
20 |
| Trinity, and served as Eucharistic Minister for his parish as |
21 |
| well as nursing homes; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Schutz attended Naval Officer Candidate |

| School and graduated as second highest from the 6th Naval |
2 |
| Atomic, Biological, and Chemical Defense Course at Fort |
3 |
| McClellan, Alabama; he was assigned as Assistant to the |
4 |
| Director of Public Works Administration Command, United States |
5 |
| Naval Training Center, Great Lakes; he received his commission |
6 |
| to London, England, for a nine-month tour of duty as first |
7 |
| lieutenant in the Civil Engineer Corps; thereafter, he served |
8 |
| in inactive Reserve; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS,
Mr. Schutz's interests were classic cars, |
10 |
| especially his 1956 Chevy Nomad wagon, American history, |
11 |
| photography, classical music, oil painting, biking, and |
12 |
| travel; and |
13 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond |
14 |
| and Lucille; and his brother, Frederick; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of William Schutz will be deeply felt |
16 |
| by his wife, Jeanette, nee Ruplinger; his son, Daniel; his |
17 |
| daughter, Donna Palm; and his grandchildren, Deaven and Jimmy |
18 |
| Palm, Danny, Michael, Christina, and Gina; therefore, be it
|
19 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
20 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
21 |
| his family and friends, the passing of William G. Schutz; and |
22 |
| be it further
