SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Joyce Lee Sowerby of Thayer, who passed 
4
away on January 22, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was born on November 25, 1939 in 
6
Thayer; she was the daughter of George H. and Mary L. Gazda 
7
Sowerby; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby graduated from Virden High School in 
9
1957; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby worked for the Illinois Department 
11
of Revenue as a public service administrator, serving more than 
12
46 years with the Department; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was a member of Sacred Heart Church 
14
in Virden; she was an avid bowler and member of the Springfield 
15
Bowling Association, where she was a past president; she 
16
enjoyed attending area live theater performances; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was preceded in death by her father, 
18
George; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby is survived by her mother, Mary; her

sister, Linda Mae Miller; her nephews, Mark E. Tisckos and Chad 
2
M. (Vivian) Tisckos; and her great-niece, Stephanie N. Tisckos; 
3
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
her family and friends, the passing of Joyce Sowerby; and be it 
7
further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Joyce Sowerby as an expression of 
10
our sympathy.
