| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Dr. John E. Berthoud, who passed away on |
| 4 |
| September 27, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, John Berthoud was born on May 23, 1962; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, John Berthoud earned his master's degree in |
| 7 |
| international affairs from Columbia University and his |
| 8 |
| doctorate degree in political economy from Yale University; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, John Berthoud was an active member in many civic |
| 10 |
| organizations; he served as president of the National Taxpayers |
| 11 |
| Union and National Taxpayers Union Foundation since 1997; he |
| 12 |
| was a previous vice-president of the Alexis deTocqueville |
| 13 |
| Institution; he was a previous Director for Fiscal Policy for |
| 14 |
| the American Legislative Exchange Council; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, John Berthoud is survived by his mother, Joan, and |
| 16 |
| his brothers, William and Charles, and their families; |
| 17 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
| 19 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 20 |
| his family and friends, the passing of John Berthoud; and be it |
