SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dennis L. Childs of East Alton, who passed away on March 3, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born March 21, 1940, in Grant Park, to Lloyd and LaVerne (Moody) Childs; he married Anita "Kay" Austin Oct. 8, 1960, in East Alton; and

WHEREAS, He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1962; a sergeant and chief of police, he was a dedicated servant to the village of East Alton, serving as village trustee for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, He was a life member of the Illinois Police Association, Madison County Police Association, and the East Alton Police Benevolent and Protective Association; he was also a member of the East Alton American Legion, Post No. 794; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and LaVerne Childs; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Childs is survived by his wife, Anita "Kay"; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Christina and Joseph Schneider, Rhonda and Keith Moore, and Linda and Dwight Bryant; his son, Duane Childs; his 12 grandchildren; and his two brothers, Raymond Childs, and Roger Childs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dennis L. Childs; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis L. Childs as a symbol of our sympathy.
