SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Edward I. Pickus of Libertyville, who
4 passed away on March 13, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus served in the United States Army
6 in Korea from 1953 to 1955; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus began working for Pickus
8 Construction in 1955; he served as president of the company
9 from 1964 until 1980, when he became chairman of the company;
10 he served as chairman until his retirement in the early 1990s;
11 and
 
12     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus was instrumental in the
13 development of the 1,750-home Fox River Shores subdivision in
14 Island Lake, as well as several commercial shopping centers in
15 the Waukegan area; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus was an active member of his
17 community; he served as president of Victory Memorial Hospital,
18 as chairman of the United Way, as president of Glen Flora
19 Country Club and Temple Am Echod, and as chairman of the board
20 of the Foundation of the College of Lake County; and

1     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus enjoyed playing golf, playing
2 bridge, and spending time with his grandchildren; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus is survived by his wife, Jackie
4 Pickus; his children, Ilene (Bob) Witucki and Ted (Beth)
5 Pickus; his grandchildren, Lauren, Ali, and Adam Witucki, and
6 Zach, Dylan, Noah, and Lily Pickus; his brothers, Allan
7 (Meline) and Nathan (Jane) Pickus; and his sister, Tami (Marc)
8 Rosenstein; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Edward I. Pickus will be remembered by all who
10 knew and loved him as a likeable person who would help anyone
11 who asked him; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Edward I. Pickus; and be
15 it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Edward I. Pickus as an expression of
18 our sympathy.
