SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leon Taylor of Chicago, who passed away on March 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Leon Taylor was born on February 13, 1956 in Chicago; his parents were Dezel and Odessie Taylor; and

WHEREAS, Leon Taylor was educated in the Chicago Public School System, where he attended Sheppard Elementary and Harrison High School; and

WHEREAS, Leon Taylor was first employed at the age of 10, when he trained to be a butcher at 1228 South Kedzie in Chicago; he worked as a butcher for many years; he worked at Market Fisherman at 7129 South State Street at the time of his unfortunate passing; and

WHEREAS, Leon Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Samuel Johnson; and his sister, Martha Taylor; and

WHEREAS, Leon Taylor is survived by his sisters, Cherry Spann (Roger) and Marie Wade (James); his brothers, Dezel Taylor (Maria), John Taylor, Allen Taylor (Sonya), and Dwayne Johnson; his stepdaughter, Candy Lawson, and her mother, Cynthia Lawson (Peanut); his eight nieces and eight nephews; his three great-nieces and one great-nephew; and his many cousins, relatives, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Leon Taylor will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a loving and giving person who loved his family dearly and was always the life of the party; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Leon Taylor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leon Taylor as an expression of our sympathy.
