| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Eugene Beauchamp; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Beauchamp was born on August 31, 1925 in |
| 5 |
| Leland, Mississippi; he was the third son born to James and |
| 6 |
| Lillie Gertrude Beauchamp; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Beauchamp grew up as the son of |
| 8 |
| sharecroppers in the town of Utica, Mississippi; as a child, he |
| 9 |
| enjoyed hunting with his father and brother, A.V., and eating |
| 10 |
| southern-style food with his older brother, James Albert; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, When he was old enough, Eugene Beauchamp left home |
| 12 |
| with his brother A.V. to work and send money back home to his |
| 13 |
| family; in 1944, he enlisted in the United States Army with his |
| 14 |
| parents' permission; during his 20 year career with the Army, |
| 15 |
| he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant before his honorable |
| 16 |
| discharge in 1964; he was also able to see many locations |
| 17 |
| around the world, including Germany and Israel; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Beauchamp worked for several places before |
| 19 |
| starting his second 25-year career with the Ford Motor Company; |
| 20 |
| he also pursued a career as an entrepreneur, building two homes |
| 21 |
| in Maywood and owning several properties in Maywood and |
|
|

| Chicago; and
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Beauchamp accepted Christ at an early age |
| 3 |
| and joined the Methodist Church; upon arriving in Maywood, he |
| 4 |
| joined the Second Baptist Church of Maywood under the late |
| 5 |
| Reverend Robert A. Hayden; as a member of the church, he served |
| 6 |
| as a Trustee, a Men's Day Captain, and a member of the Male |
| 7 |
| Chorus; and |
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, On September 28, 1958 he married Betty Louise |
| 9 |
| Lewis and to that union Wanda, Gary, Ronald, and Cheryl were |
| 10 |
| born; Betty preceded him in death after 42 years of holy |
| 11 |
| matrimony; and |
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Beauchamp is survived by his wife, Angela; |
| 13 |
| his children, Delores, Joseph, Wanda (David), Gary, Ronald |
| 14 |
| (LaVerne), and Cheryl; his nine grandchildren, 12 |
| 15 |
| great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; his |
| 16 |
| brother, Albert Victor (A.V.); his uncle, C.J. Beecham; his |
| 17 |
| aunt, Betty Mapp; his extended family, Jann Beauchamp, Clarence |
| 18 |
| (Barbara) Lewis, Bernice Sykes, and Naomi (Robert) Webber; his |
| 19 |
| cousins, nieces, and nephews; his special close friends of the |
| 20 |
| family, the Mabins, Maclin, Freelon, and Hayden families; and |
| 21 |
| his extended church family at Bethel Green; and |
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Eugene Beauchamp will be remembered by all who |

| knew and loved him for his helpful demeanor, especially Senator |
| 2 |
| Kimberly A. Lightford, who affectionately referred to him as |
| 3 |
| Daddy Beauchamp, and his endless love for his beloved children; |
| 4 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 5 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
| 6 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 7 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Eugene Beauchamp; and be |
| 8 |
| it further
|
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 10 |
| presented to the family of Eugene Beauchamp as an expression of |
| 11 |
| our sympathy.
