| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of former McHenry County College President |
| 4 |
| Robert C. Bartlett, who passed away on January 19, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Bartlett was born April 25, 1937 in Melrose |
| 6 |
| Park to Harry and Irene (Callen) Bartlett; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He married Rosemary Heiman on May 28, 1977 in |
| 8 |
| Crystal Lake; he graduated from the University of Illinois with |
| 9 |
| a B.S. in industrial education in 1959 and earned his master's |
| 10 |
| in education in 1962; he continued his doctoral study at |
| 11 |
| University of Chicago and doctoral candidacy at Michigan State |
| 12 |
| University; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He worked as the assistant executive secretary and |
| 14 |
| consultant examiner for the Commission of Institutions of |
| 15 |
| Higher Education and North Central Association of Colleges and |
| 16 |
| Schools, was the dean of instruction at McHenry County College |
| 17 |
| from 1973 to 1979, was the president of McHenry County College |
| 18 |
| from 1979 to 1997, and had been president emeritus; after he |
| 19 |
| retired, he stayed active in the community, serving as chairman |
| 20 |
| of the Curriculum and Administrative Services Committees of the |
| 21 |
| Illinois Council of Community College Presidents; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, He also served as a member of the board of the |
|
|

| Education to Careers Group of McHenry County, McHenry County |
| 2 |
| United Way, chairman of the Agency Relations Committee of the |
| 3 |
| McHenry County United Way, as well as director of research, |
| 4 |
| founding, and continuing member for the McHenry County Economic |
| 5 |
| Development Corporation; he was also a member of the board and |
| 6 |
| ambassador emeritus of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, as |
| 7 |
| well as a member of the Business Development and Support |
| 8 |
| Committee of the Crystal Lake Chamber and a former board member |
| 9 |
| of Hospice of Northeastern Illinois; and he enjoyed fishing and |
| 10 |
| boating on Crystal Lake, gardening, and spending time with |
| 11 |
| family; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his |
| 13 |
| children William Clark, Beth Christensen-Smith, and Fred |
| 14 |
| Clarke; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Bartlett is survived by his wife, Rosemary; |
| 16 |
| his sister, Barbara "Babs" Cerny; his children, Deborah (Jeff) |
| 17 |
| Curey, Dawn (James) Adams, Cindy (Mike) Ray, Linda (Gregg) |
| 18 |
| Rice, and Tom (Colleen) Clarke; ;his grandchildren, Max |
| 19 |
| Bartlett, Michael Christensen, Kevin Christensen, Cody, |
| 20 |
| Nicholas, and Luke Ray, Robyn Clarke, William Clarke, and Julia |
| 21 |
| Rice; his great grandchildren, Austin, Jacob, and Colin |
| 22 |
| Christensen; his nephews, Dean and Robbie Cerny; his best bud |
| 23 |
| Sarah; and many extended family and friends; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |

| his family and friends, the passing of Robert Bartlett; and be |
| 4 |
| it further
|
| 5 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 |
| presented to the family of Robert Bartlett as a symbol of our |
| 7 |
| sincere sympathy.
