| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Roger Place of Woodridge, who passed away |
| 4 |
| on May 7, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Roger Place and his wife of 42 years, Sharon, |
| 6 |
| began their life together after meeting at the University of |
| 7 |
| Minnesota in 1966, where they were both majoring in theatre; |
| 8 |
| they quickly formed a bond, which led to their marriage; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Roger Place was an employee of Lisle-based |
| 10 |
| Bellcore for 25 years; he served his country with pride and |
| 11 |
| distinction as a member of the United States Armed Forces; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Roger Place took part in numerous theatrical |
| 13 |
| productions in his community, both on stage and behind the |
| 14 |
| scenes; his and his wife's love for theatre and music was also |
| 15 |
| shared by his daughters; the family's love affair with theatre |
| 16 |
| led them to manage the Naperville community theatre, The Summer |
| 17 |
| Place, for 2 years in the late 1980s; in total, the family's |
| 18 |
| involvement in community theater has spanned over 30 years; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Roger Place also enjoyed flying and playing golf; |
| 20 |
| he worked as a flight instructor out of Clow International |
| 21 |
| Airport in Bolingbrook and worked at two local golf courses, |
