SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Kevin John Bryant, who passed away on 
4
June 8, 2008 in Loveland, Colorado, as a result of injuries 
5
suffered on a rafting trip with friends on the Poudre River; 
6
and

 
7
    WHEREAS, He was born on July 15, 1986 to John and Theresa 
8
Bryant; he treasured (and teased) his younger brothers, 
9
Patrick, Michael, and David, and his sister, Mary Kate, who 
10
together with their parents formed an exceptionally 
11
close-knit, Christian family; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Kevin was a member of Holy Cross Church, where he 
13
received the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation; he 
14
attended the Batavia schools and was a proud Bulldog of Batavia 
15
High School, playing varsity basketball for three years;

Kevin 
16
recently graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he 
17
was a four-year Titan basketball player and a member of Sigma 
18
Chi Fraternity; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, He had accepted a job in finance and was scheduled 
20
to start in July;

Kevin was a powerful and kind force and in 
21
his short 21 years he was a blessing not only to his parents 
22
and brothers and sister, but also to a large extended family;

    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Fred 
3
Bryant; and

    WHEREAS, Kevin John Bryant is survived by his parents, John 
5
and Theresa; his brothers, Patrick, Michael, and David; his 
6
sister, Mary Kate; his grandparents, Jack and Pat Abell and 
7
Maureen Bryant; his godfather, David Bryant; his aunts and 
8
uncles, Mike and Janice Abell, Marty and Rocky Rode, Tim Abell, 
9
Sue Bryant and Larry Fox, Sandie and Tom Gibbs, Mike and Ursula 
10
Bryant, Pat and Debbie Bryant, Mary and Chuck Lowry, Fred and 
11
Diane Bryant, Jay and Janet Bryant, Molly Bryant, Mark and 
12
Heather Bryant; he is also survived by numerous cousins, whom 
13
he loved spending time with, and his girlfriend, Kourtney 
14
Tarvin; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
16
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
17
his family and friends, the passing of Kevin John Bryant; and 
18
be it further

 
19
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
20
presented to the family of Kevin John Bryant as a symbol of our 
21
sympathy.
