| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Dr. Vladimir J. "Wally" Suchy of |
| 4 |
| Hinsdale, who passed away on May 29, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Suchy was a family practitioner for 50 years; |
| 6 |
| in addition to treating patients, Dr. Suchy was an avid |
| 7 |
| gardener; Dr. Suchy was born in Chicago and grew up on |
| 8 |
| Chicago's south side where he graduated valedictorian at |
| 9 |
| Linbloom High School; he graduated from Dartmouth College and |
| 10 |
| attended Marquette University School of Medicine (now the |
| 11 |
| Medical College of Wisconsin); and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Upon graduation from medical school, he was |
| 13 |
| inducted into the United States Navy, where he graduated |
| 14 |
| valedictorian of all naval flight surgeons; as commanding naval |
| 15 |
| surgeon and senior medical officer of the naval air station in |
| 16 |
| Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Suchy was responsible for all Naval, |
| 17 |
| Marine, National Guard, and Air Force personnel; while in |
| 18 |
| Lincoln he met his wife of 54 years, Helen; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He competed his naval service in 1955 and took |
| 20 |
| surgical residency at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn; after his |
| 21 |
| residency was completed, Dr. Suchy established his practice in |
| 22 |
| Hillside, where he served patients until his retirement; he was |
