| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of Thomas B. Brinkoetter of Decatur, who |
4 |
| passed away on July 1, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Thomas B. Brinkoetter was born November 6, 1927, |
6 |
| in Decatur, the son of Bernard J. and Florence Marie |
7 |
| (Appenzeller) Brinkoetter; he married Jacqueline M. Cook June |
8 |
| 6, 1949, in Decatur; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He was employed by A.E. Staley Manufacturing |
10 |
| Company from 1949 to 1958; he started selling real estate in |
11 |
| August of 1954; he formed Tom Brinkoetter & Company in April of |
12 |
| 1965, which he owned and operated until his retirement in |
13 |
| January of 1993, when his daughter Carla took over the |
14 |
| business; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, In 1977, Tom started the Tom Brinkoetter & Company |
16 |
| Property Management; he was a member of the Decatur Association |
17 |
| of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors, and the |
18 |
| National Association of Realtors; in 1981, he was Secretary of |
19 |
| the Illinois Association of Realtors; Tom was named Decatur |
20 |
| Realtor of the Year in 1983, and was the Dean of Illinois |
21 |
| Realtors Institute for three years; he served on several |
22 |
| committees with the National, Illinois, and Decatur |

| Association of Realtors; he was the Past President of the |
2 |
| Decatur Association of Realtors in 1967 and the Past Chairman |
3 |
| of the Decatur Multiple Listing Service in 1966; he was a |
4 |
| graduate of the Illinois Realtors Institute "G.R.I", a |
5 |
| certified Residential Salesman "C.R.S.", and a certified |
6 |
| Residential Broker "C.R.B."; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of St. James Catholic Church his |
8 |
| entire life; he was also a member of the Metro Chamber of |
9 |
| Commerce, Golden "K" Kiwanis, American Legion Post #105, and K |
10 |
| of C #577; and |
11 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, one |
12 |
| brother, and one grandchild; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter is survived by his wife, |
14 |
| Jackie; his children, Carla J. Brinkoetter and husband, Terry |
15 |
| Smith; Connie J. Ewing and husband, Kevin; and Thomas A. |
16 |
| Brinkoetter and wife, Patricia; his grandchildren, Adam J. |
17 |
| Trent, James R. Trent, Alyssa A. Brinkoetter, and Joseph A. |
18 |
| Brinkoetter; his great-grandchild, Emmit Trent; his sisters, |
19 |
| Evelyn F. Lonergan and Dorothy M. Raver and husband, Dwight; |
20 |
| therefore, be it
