SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of U.S. Army Private First Class Angelo Shane Allen, who passed away on August 5, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Angelo Allen was born on October 29, 1987 in Aurora; his parents were Sophia T. (Manuel) Torres and Shane (Edna) Allen; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Angelo Allen spent his early childhood years in Aurora before moving to Lubbock, Texas; he graduated from Estacada High School in Lubbock, Texas, where he was an honor student; he received five gold, two silver, and two bronze medals from the Texas Academic Decathlon and was a member of the ROTC during all four years of high school; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Angelo Allen served his country with pride and distinction as a member of C Company, 15th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Angelo Allen is survived by his wife, Malini Allen; his mother, Sophia T. (Manuel) Torres; his father, Shane (Edna) Allen; his brothers, Damian Allen, Xavier Martinez, and Rene and Dion Allen; his sisters, Julissa and Keayana Allen, and Jazmin and Enjoli Villa; his very special uncle, Johnny Yanez; his uncle, Patrick Allen; his maternal grandparents, Nancy and Tony Rodriguez; his paternal grandmother, May Allen; his best friend, Paul S.; and his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of U.S. Army Private First Class Angelo Shane Allen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Private First Class Angelo Allen as an expression of our sympathy.
