SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Henry L. Cotter, who passed away on September 16, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born on December 8, 1917 in Alton, the son of Henry Snow & Henritta (Sworts) Cotter; he married Ruth Elizabeth Mutschler on July 3, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, He served his country with the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in France and England during the European Theatre; he was a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308; and

WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton where he served as an altar boy and usher; he retired in 1980 after 42 years of service as a pipe fitter for Shell Oil Company; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Henry L. Cotter is survived by his wife, Ruth; his son and daughter-in-law, Arthur & Pamela (Galligos) Cotter; his daughters, Susan Cotter and Elizabeth Keister; his grandchildren, Scott and Todd Link, Molly and Katie Keister, Angela Pekarik, and Adam and Kevin Cotter; his great grandchildren, Kaleigh and Alexis Pekarik and Trent Alan Neaderhiser; and his special friend, Bill Heintz; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Henry Cotter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Henry Cotter as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
