Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Insurance Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that Executive Order No. 2004-6 is superseded by the Act. Abolishes the Division of Insurance within the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and creates the Department of Insurance. Transfers all the powers, duties, rights, and responsibilities of the Division of Insurance within the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to the Department of Insurance. Effective July 1, 2009.

Governor Amendatory Veto Message
Recommends the following changes: that Executive Order No. 2009-04 (rather than the amendatory Act) supersedes Executive Order No. 2004-6 to the extent that Executive Order No. 2004-6 transfers the powers, duties, rights, and responsibilities of the Department of Insurance to the Division of Insurance within the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation; and that the date the Division of Insurance within the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation becomes the Department of Insurance is the effective date of Executive Order No. 2009-04 (rather than July 1, 2009).
