Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Prevailing Wage Act. Provides that for a laborer, worker, or mechanic engaged in the transportation of aggregate or excavated materials or the operation of equipment to haul aggregate or excavated materials to or from the site of the building or construction job, the Department of Labor shall take into consideration the applicable prevailing wage rate and the Illinois Department of Transportation's current method of establishing equipment rates for trucks on public works projects. Defines various terms.

 Fiscal Note (Dept. of Transportation)
Passage of HB 6112 would increase costs on the Illinois Department of Transportation's construction projects by $10 million per construction season. The Davis-Bacon Act would overrule this State law; therefore, this law would only apply to State funded contracts.

 Fiscal Note (Dept. of Labor)
This legislation creates additional responsibilities for the Conciliation and Mediation Division of the Department of Labor. The fiscal impact is as follows: (1) Personnel, 1 Labor Conciliator = $65,000; (2) Fringes = $24,700; (3) Travel = $3,000; (4) Commodities = $500; (5) EDP Equipment = $3,000; (6) Telecommications = $500; Total = $96,700.

State Mandates Fiscal Note (Dept. of Commerce & Economic Opportunity)
This bill creates a State mandate.
