Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Authorizes the Department to establish a contingency allocation to pay certain reimbursements to sellers of white goods appliances who participated in the white goods appliances (Earth Day 2010) portion of the Retail Energy Efficiency Appliance Program administered by the Department. Provides that the contingency allotment shall consist of moneys appropriated to the Department for that specific purpose. Provides that the contingency allotment may be used only under certain specified conditions. Provides that, if it is determined that the contingency allotment is needed to pay program participants, then the white goods appliances (Earth Day 2010) portion of the Retail Energy Efficiency Appliance Program administered by the Department shall terminate at 6:00 pm on Monday, April 19, 2010, and the Department shall release, by Monday, May 10, 2010, the additional funds to the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance for distribution to program participants. Provides that if it is determined that some or all of the contingency allotment is not needed, the remaining funds shall not be spent, and any remaining funds in the possession of the Alliance shall be deposited into the General Revenue Fund. Limits total expenditures from the contingency allotment to $3,400,000. Effective immediately.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law. Makes a technical change in a provision concerning the Illinois Science and Technology Commission.
