Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Pretrial Services Act and the Probation and Probation Officers Act. Provides that for the purposes of administering the provisions of Public Act 95-773, known as the Cindy Bischof Law, all probation and court services departments are to be considered pretrial services agencies under the Pretrial Services Act and under the bail bond provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Effective immediately.

Fiscal Note (Admin Office of the Illinois Courts)
The State probation funding structure is based on a tiered system with ranges of reimbursement from $1,000 per month per position to 100 percent of each officer's salary. SB 1710 would modify all probation positions making each eligible for full funding of their annual salaries. This action would result in a substantial fiscal impact on the budget of the Supreme Court, the entity that provides the reimbursement to local county governments. A comprehensive fiscal impact statement would necessitate an in-depth analysis of the total number of positions for which increased funding would be required.
