Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that a person committed under the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 shall be released on parole to serve a period of no more than 6 months on parole. Provides that parole shall automatically terminate at the end of 6 months, if not terminated earlier, for all persons committed under the Juvenile Court Act of 1987. Provides that a person shall not be recommitted unless his or her parole is violated by a finding of guilt of a new offense under the Juvenile Court Act of 1987.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2

	Deletes reference to:
	730 ILCS 5/3-3-5

	Adds reference to:
	20 ILCS 505/17a-5	from Ch. 23, par. 5017a-5

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall develop recommendations to ensure the effective reintegration of youth offenders into the communities to which they are returning and shall advise and assist the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission, utilizing information provided by the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Prisoner Review Board, the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, and any other relevant State agency, to develop by Sept. 30, 2009, a report on juveniles who have been the subject of a parole revocation within the past year in Illinois. Effective immediately.

Governor Amendatory Veto Message
Recommends that the report on juveniles who have been the subject of a parole revocation within the past year in Illinois shall be developed by the relevant State agency by September 30, 2010 (rather than by September 30, 2009).
