Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and the Hospital Licensing Act. Requires a hospital to adopt an influenza and pneumococcal immunization policy that contains certain features. Requires a hospital to file a copy of the policy with the Department of Public Health. Restricts the exercise of home rule powers. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement by the State. Effective immediately.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause with similar provisions, amending the University of Illinois Hospital Act, the Hospital Licensing Act, and the State Mandates Act, but with changes that include the following: (1) requires the offering of immunization against influenza virus "when available" between September 1 and April 1; (2) requires the offering of immunization "unless contraindicated"; (3) deletes provisions concerning a standing order policy with respect to contra-indications and concerning a system for documenting vaccine administration and other matters; and (4) requires a hospital to provide a copy of its immunization policy to the Department of Public Health upon request (instead of file a copy with the Department). Effective immediately.
