Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the State Police Act. Requires the Director of State Police to select and assign State Police officers for the security and protection of certain State officials. Authorizes the Director of State Police to select and assign State Police officers for the security and protection of other State officials and visiting dignitaries. Effective immediately.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Further amends the State Police Act. Removes a provision from the introduced bill that required the Director to select and assign State Police officers to provide security and protection for "other elected officials of the State". Inserts a provision that allows an official or dignitary covered by this Section to decline, in writing, to have a security and protection detail. Provides that after receiving the written declination of the dignitary or official, the Director shall not be required to provide a security and protection detail to the official or dignitary.
