Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Property Tax Code. In counties of less than 3,000,000, provides that if an owner fails to file an application for any homestead exemption (instead of only the senior assessment freeze), a certificate of error may be issued. Effective immediately.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Property Tax Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the definition of "33 1/3%".

House Floor Amendment No. 3
Adds reference to:
35 ILCS 200/9-80
30 ILCS 805/8.34 new

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that, on or before October 1, 2009, the county assessor of Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County shall each reassess all property in the county at 33 1/3% of the fair cash value of the property, as determined by the Department's sales ratio studies for the most recent year preceding the assessment year. Effective immediately.

House Floor Amendment No. 4

35 ILCS 200/15-65

If and only if Senate Bill 1739 of the 96th General Assembly becomes law, amends provisions of Senate Bill 1739 that changed a Section of the Property Tax Code concerning exemptions for charitable purposes by providing that property that is entitled to an exemption shall not lose the exemption because the legal title is held by a limited liability company, so long as the limited liability company meets specified criteria. Provides that those provisions apply beginning with the 2009 assessment year. Effective immediately.
