Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that property and any leasehold interest in property that is owned by a municipality with a population of over 500,000 inhabitants, or a unit of local government whose jurisdiction includes territory located in whole or in part within a municipality with a population of over 500,000 inhabitants, is exempt from taxation under the Code if the property is used as a harbor. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
35 ILCS 200/15-85
Adds reference to:
35 ILCS 405/2from Ch. 120, par. 405A-2

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Estate and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax. Provides that the State tax credit for the estates of persons dying after December 31, 2005 and on or before December 31, 2009 includes a reduction for qualified terminal interest property. Provides that the trustee of a trust for which a QTIP election is made may not retain non-income producing assets for more than a reasonable amount of time without the consent of the surviving spouse. Effective immediately.
