AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 54

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 54 as follows:

by deleting line 10 on page 26 through line 6 on page 27; and

on page 27, line 23, by replacing "10" with "12"; and

on page 28, line 11, after "nomination.", by inserting "In 
6
addition to the 7 elected trustees, 2 trustees who are members 
7
of the University's faculty must be selected by the Faculty 
8
Senate of each University campus meeting as a whole."; and
 
9
on page 32, immediately below line 14, by inserting the 
10
following:

    "The term of office of each faculty trustee shall be 4 
12
years from the third Monday in January next succeeding his or 
13
her selection and until his or her successor is elected and has 
14
qualified.  However, the 2 faculty trustees initially selected

pursuant to this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly 
2
shall draw lots to determine one of them to serve a 2-year term 
3
and one of them to serve a 4-year term.  In the case of a vacancy

in a faculty trustee's seat, the vacancy shall be filled for 
5
the unexpired portion of the term by the Faculty Senate of each 
6
University campus meeting as a whole."; and

on page 32, line 15, by deleting "elected or appointed".
