Amends the County Shelter Care and Detention Home Act. Provides that, if the county board of any county has levied a tax for a detention home and cannot adequately support the facility, the county board may expend the tax receipts for detention services purchased through agreements with other governmental units or entities. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The County Shelter Care and Detention Home Act |
| 5 |
| is amended by adding Section 9.3 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (55 ILCS 75/9.3 new)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 9.3. Agreements for detention services. If the county |
| 8 |
| board of any county has levied a tax authorized by this Act for |
| 9 |
| a county detention home and cannot adequately support the |
| 10 |
| facility, the county may expend the tax receipts for detention |
| 11 |
| services purchased through agreements with other governmental |
| 12 |
| units or entities.

| 13 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 |
| becoming law.
