Amends the School Code. Requires school boards, prior to the 2010-2011 school year, to develop policies and adopt rules relating to the prevention of infections transmitted by contact with blood or bodily fluids. Sets forth what the policies and rules must include. Provides that no school shall be required to pay the cost of any testing recommended under these policies and rules. Requires the State Board of Education, in consultation with the Department of Public Health, to develop and disseminate to school boards a model exposure policy and training program, which shall be made available at no cost to schools by video, electronic, or other means. Effective July 1, 2009.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |

| 10-21.11 as follows:

| Sec. 10-21.11. Infectious disease policies and rules. |

| (a) To
develop policies and adopt rules relating to the |

| appropriate manner of
managing children with chronic |
10 |
| infectious diseases, not inconsistent with
guidelines |
11 |
| published by the State Board of Education and the Illinois
|
12 |
| Department of Public Health. Such policies and rules must |
13 |
| include
evaluation of students with a chronic infectious |
14 |
| disease on an individual
case-by-case basis, and may include |
15 |
| different provisions for different age
groups, classes of |
16 |
| instruction, types of educational institution,
and other |
17 |
| reasonable classifications,
as the school board may find |
18 |
| appropriate.

| (b) Prior to the 2010-2011 school year, to develop policies |
