Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that whoever knowingly resists or obstructs the authorized service of an emergency order of protection granted in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 or the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986 in any commercial building other than a residence commits a Class A misdemeanor. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning criminal law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 31-3.1 as follows: |

| (720 ILCS 5/31-3.1 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 31-3.1. Obstructing service of an emergency order of |
8 |
| protection. Whoever knowingly resists or obstructs the |
9 |
| authorized service of an emergency order of protection granted |
10 |
| in accordance with Section 112A-17 of the Code of Criminal |
11 |
| Procedure of 1963 or Section 217 of the Illinois Domestic |
12 |
| Violence Act of 1986 in any commercial building other than a |
13 |
| residence commits a Class A misdemeanor.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
15 |
| becoming law.
