| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1598

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1598 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is amended |
| 5 |
| by adding Section 1-40 as follows:

| (20 ILCS 1305/1-40 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 1-40. Assist units of local government; ADA |
| 8 |
| coordinators. Subject to appropriation by the General |
| 9 |
| Assembly, the Department shall provide assistance to units of |
| 10 |
| local government concerning Americans with Disabilities Act |
| 11 |
| coordinators. The Department shall monitor units of local |
| 12 |
| government to determine if the units of local government are in |
| 13 |
| compliance with all applicable provisions of State law |
| 14 |
| concerning Americans with Disabilities Act coordinators. The |
| 15 |
| Department shall promptly notify units of local government not |
| 16 |
| in compliance with the applicable provisions of State law |
