AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1653

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1653 by replacing

everything after the enacting clause with the following:

    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Sections 
5
10-20.53 and 34-18.45 as follows:

    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.53 new)
7
    Sec. 10-20.53. Student athlete concussion; clearance to 
8
return to play. A school board shall adopt a policy in which a 
9
student athlete under the age of 18 years who has been removed 
10
from play may not return
to play until the athlete is evaluated 
11
by a licensed health care
provider trained in the evaluation 
12
and management of concussions and
receives written clearance to 
13
return to play from that health care
provider.
