    Amends the Public Community College Act. Provides that the student member of the board of trustees of a community college district may serve for only one term.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Public Community College Act is amended by
5 changing Section 3-7.24 as follows:
 
6     (110 ILCS 805/3-7.24)  (from Ch. 122, par. 103-7.24)
7     Sec. 3-7.24. Each community college board shall have one
8 non-voting member who is a student enrolled in the community
9 college under the jurisdiction of the board. One non-voting
10 student member shall also be selected in multi-campus districts
11 to represent all campuses in those districts. In multi-campus
12 districts, the campus from which the member is selected shall
13 be determined by lot each year provided that no campus shall
14 twice have selected a non-voting student member until all
15 campuses in the district have once been represented on the
16 district board. The same procedure shall be followed until all
17 campuses have been represented a second time, a third time, and
18 subsequent times. The method of selecting these student members
19 shall be determined by campus-wide student referendum.
20     The student members shall serve one a term of one year
21 beginning on April 15 of each year, except that the student
22 member initially selected shall serve a term beginning on the
23 date of selection and expiring on the next succeeding June 30.

1     The nonvoting student members shall have all of the
2 privileges of membership, including the right to make and
3 second motions and to attend executive sessions, other than the
4 right to vote.
