| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2465

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2465 on page 1, |
| 3 |
| immediately below line 20, by inserting the following: |
| 4 |
| "(c) Nothing in this Section shall be construed as |
| 5 |
| permitting simultaneous tenure in incompatible offices. No |
| 6 |
| police officer shall serve in any elective or appointed public |
| 7 |
| office of the political subdivision that employs the police |
| 8 |
| officer. No firefighter shall serve in any elective or |
| 9 |
| appointed public office of the political subdivision that |
| 10 |
| employs the firefighter. No sheriff's deputy shall serve in any |
| 11 |
| elective or appointed public office of the political |
| 12 |
| subdivision that employs the sheriff's deputy. No police |
| 13 |
| officer, firefighter, or sheriff's deputy shall serve as a |
| 14 |
| member of a civil service or merit commission responsible for |
| 15 |
| personnel decisions in the police, fire, or sheriff's |
| 16 |
| department that employs the police officer, firefighter, or |
| 17 |
| sheriff's deputy.".
