SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
515 ILCS 5/10-95   from Ch. 56, par. 10-95

    Amends the Fish and Aquatic Life Code. Provides that a licensed taxidermist or formerly licensed taxidermist may sell of barter either aquatic life or parts thereof taken by sport fishing, but only if preserved or mounted by the licensed taxidermist or formerly licensed taxidermist. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning fish.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Fish and Aquatic Life Code is amended by
5 changing Section 10-95 as follows:
 
6     (515 ILCS 5/10-95)  (from Ch. 56, par. 10-95)
7     Sec. 10-95. Number of hooks; untagged devices. Any
8 individual possessing a valid sport fishing license may take
9 aquatic life by hand, or may use pole and line, bank pole and
10 line, throw line, trotline, buoyed ganging devices, or other
11 legal devices not exceeding 50 hooks in the aggregate, however,
12 any individual at any one time is allowed to use under his or
13 her immediate control only 2 untagged sport fishing devices and
14 any additional devices up to the aggregate of 50 hooks must be
15 tagged with his or her name and mailing address. It shall be
16 unlawful to sell or barter any aquatic life or parts thereof
17 taken by sport fishing devices. However, a licensed taxidermist
18 or formerly licensed taxidermist may sell or barter either
19 aquatic life or parts thereof taken by sport fishing devices,
20 but only if preserved or mounted by the licensed taxidermist or
21 formerly licensed taxidermist.
22     A dip net for non-commercial smelt fishing in Lake Michigan
23 may be used subject to the provisions of Section 10-40.

1     Any sport fishing device, including trot line device, bank
2 pole, and throw line or buoyed ganging devices, left unattended
3 must be tagged with the name and mailing address of the
4 operator. All required tags shall be in a position to be at all
5 times exposed to public view.
6     A sport fishing license permits the holder to seine for
7 minnows, provided that minnows are not sold. The seine shall
8 not be longer than 20 feet, deeper than 6 feet, or contain mesh
9 larger than 1/2 inch bar measurement.

11     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12 becoming law.
