| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2598

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2598 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Sections 1-168.8 and 11-1427.5 and changing Section 1-101.8 as | ||||||
| 6 | follows:
| ||||||
| 7 | (625 ILCS 5/1-101.8) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-102.02)
| ||||||
| 8 | Sec. 1-101.8. All-terrain vehicle. Any motorized | ||||||
| 9 | off-highway device
designed to travel primarily off-highway,
| ||||||
| 10 | 50 inches or less in width, having a manufacturer's dry weight | ||||||
| 11 | of 1,500 900 pounds
or less, traveling on 3 or more non-highway | ||||||
| 12 | low-pressure tires, designed with a seat or
saddle for operator | ||||||
| 13 | use, and handlebars or steering wheel
for steering control, | ||||||
| 14 | except equipment such as lawnmowers.

| 6 | 4 or more non-highway tires, designed with a non-straddle seat | ||||||
| 7 | and a steering wheel for steering control, except equipment | ||||||
| 8 | such as lawnmowers. | ||||||
| 9 | (625 ILCS 5/11-1427.5 new)
| ||||||
| 10 | Sec. 11-1427.5. Recreational off-highway vehicles. All | ||||||
| 11 | provisions of this Code that apply to an all-terrain vehicle | ||||||
| 12 | shall apply the same to a recreational off-highway vehicle.
| ||||||
| 13 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 14 | becoming law.".
