Amends the Election Code. Provides that a person who is 17 years old on the date of a primary may vote at the primary if that person is otherwise qualified and will be 18 years old on the date of the following election.

| AN ACT concerning elections.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section |
5 |
| 3-6 as follows: |

| (10 ILCS 5/3-6 new) |

| Sec. 3-6. Voting age. Notwithstanding any other provision |
8 |
| of law, a person 17 years old on the date of a primary election |
9 |
| who is otherwise qualified to vote is qualified to vote at that |
10 |
| primary, or vote an absentee, grace period, or early voting |
11 |
| ballot with respect to that primary, if that person will be 18 |
12 |
| years old on the date of the following election. |

| References in this Code and elsewhere to the requirement |
14 |
| that a person must be 18 years old to vote shall be interpreted |
15 |
| in accordance with this Section.
