| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 |
| 3-9004 as follows:
|

| Sec. 3-9004. Failure to give bond or take oath. If any |

| person
elected to the
the office of State's attorney shall fail |

| to give bond, or take
the oath required of him, within twenty |

| days after he is declared elected,
the office shall be deemed |
| 11 |
| vacant, and if, being required to give
additional bond, as |
| 12 |
| provided in Section 3-9003 hereof, he fails to do so
within |
| 13 |
| twenty days after notice of such requirements, his office may, |
| 14 |
| in the
discretion of the governor, be declared vacant and |
| 15 |
| filled as provided by law. |
