| AN ACT concerning transportation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 12-802 as follows:
|

| (625 ILCS 5/12-802) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-802)

| Sec. 12-802. Identification. Each school bus shall have the
|
8 |
| the sign "SCHOOL
BUS" painted on both the front and rear of the |
9 |
| bus as high as practicable
in letters at least 8 inches high. |

| The vehicle
weight and the vehicle maximum passenger capacity |
11 |
| recommended by the manufacturer
of the bus, which shall be |
12 |
| based upon provision for 13 inches of seating
space for each |
13 |
| passenger exclusive of the driver, shall be painted on
the body |
14 |
| to the left of the service door in letters at least 2 inches |
15 |
| high.
The name of the owner or the entity for which the school |
16 |
| bus is operated
or both shall be painted in a contrasting color |
17 |
| on both sides, centered
as high as practicable below the window |
18 |
| line, in letters at least 4 inches
high. A school bus |
19 |
| identification number shall be painted as high as practicable
|
20 |
| on both the front and rear of the bus in letters at least
4 |
21 |
| inches high. Decals may be used instead of painting. |
