| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 |
| 5-1001 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (55 ILCS 5/5-1001) (from Ch. 34, par. 5-1001)
|

| Sec. 5-1001. Corporate name of county. Each county which |
| 8 |
| has
been, or may be established in this State, according to the
|
| 9 |
| the laws thereof,
shall be a body politic and corporate, by the |
| 10 |
| name and style of "The county
of ....," and by that name may |
| 11 |
| sue and be sued, plead and may be impleaded,
defend and be |
| 12 |
| defended against in any court having jurisdiction of the
|
| 13 |
| subject-matter, or other place where justice shall be |
| 14 |
| administered. |
