| AN ACT concerning transportation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 6-205.3 as follows:
|

| 7 |
| Sec. 6-205.3. Suspension of driver's license of person |
| 8 |
| convicted of resisting or obstructing a peace officer. The |
| 9 |
| driver's license of a person convicted of resisting or |
| 10 |
| obstructing a peace officer under Section 31-1(a) of the |
| 11 |
| Criminal Code of 1961 involving that person's operation of a |
| 12 |
| motor vehicle shall be suspended by the Secretary for a period |
| 13 |
| not to exceed 6 months for a first offense. Upon a second or |
| 14 |
| subsequent conviction for resisting or obstructing a peace |
| 15 |
| officer involving that person's operation of a motor vehicle, |
| 16 |
| the suspension shall be for a period not to exceed one year.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January |
| 18 |
| 1, 2010.
