Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department to establish a grant program to encourage the purchase and installation of high energy efficiency boilers. Provides that the grants are only available for the purchase and installation of these boilers in commercial buildings and multi-family residential buildings.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic |
5 |
| Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
6 |
| amended by adding Section 605-1005 as follows: |
7 |
| (20 ILCS 605/605-1005 new) |

| Sec. 605-1005. High efficiency boiler grants. The |
9 |
| Department shall establish a grant program to encourage the |
10 |
| purchase and installation of high energy efficiency boilers. |
11 |
| The Department shall award these grants only to owners of |
12 |
| commercial buildings and multi-family residential buildings |
13 |
| out of funds specifically appropriated for that purpose. For |
14 |
| the purposes of this Section, a "high energy efficiency boiler" |
15 |
| is a boiler that, at a minimum, satisfies the federal Energy |
16 |
| Star standards for energy efficiency.
